Julia Soares Guimarães, RD, MSc, PhD

Research Associate

Julia is completed her PhD in Population Health at the University of Ottawa. She also has an undergraduate and a Master’s degree in Nutrition and Health from the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Brazil. She has done research on nutrition environments since 2014, and her major area of research is food marketing, especially television advertising. Currently, Julia is involved in research on nutrition labelling and on food advertising across 5 countries. She is also involved in research on television food advertising in Canada over time. Her PhD thesis examined the effects of food and beverage advertising on television among children.
